Our Story

Bill and Maria met online through Final Fantasy 14 in March of 2019. They became quick friends and found that they greatly enjoyed each other’s company. One day a dear friend of theirs told Bill that he should ask Maria out. Maria, not wanting a relationship, said that she would just do it for the online (game) benefits. It would be then that Bill would ask Maria to meet him in real life. Maria was very hesitant but the same friend persuaded her to give him a chance. Fast forward a few years, and Maria completely changed jobs, moved to a new town, and started a new journey with Bill in Rural Hall. Then, after Maria had to deal with a lot of family troubles, she realized that life was just too short to not take any risks. Thus, Maria decided to propose to Bill by making a video game that served as a reflection of their own journey.

Maria Shaffer

Born in Parkersburg WV on April 30th, 1991, Maria grew up in a small town with the desire for always wanting to see and do more. Her passion for exploration and stories would see her move from West Virginia to Iowa and North Carolina. Furthermore, this drive sparked her into writing and telling stories through video games where she started her own Indie Game Studio Ice Spark Studios. Now, Maria works as an English Professor and hopes to inspire the minds of the next generation.

Bill Hamlin

Born in Rural Hall NC on April 12, 1985, he grew up with a strong dislike of school, preferring to only learn about subjects that interested him. These subjects involved, reading, drawing, woodworking, playing games, and putting together model kits. Today, Bill likes to try many things, which lately involve cooking delicious food, telling quirky jokes, and putting together Lego sets.
